How to enable AMD Cool’n'Quiet in Windows
CPUs are getting faster, hotter (and noisier due to more powerful cooling), and they consume more and more energy.
Most of the time processors are idling, so why not reduce their speed and voltage? This is where Cool’n'Quiet technology comes in. It allows the system to dynamically and automatically select CPU voltage and speed, depending on performance need. These changes can happen up to 30 times per second.
All AMD Athlon 64 CPUs have Cool’n'Quiet technology . You just need to enable it…
Steps needed:
- Install CPU driver
- Change Power Options
- Check if Cool’n'Quiet is enabled
Install CPU driver
You can find AMD Athlon CPU driver on your motherboard CD, or you can download it from AMD web site:
For Windows XP SP2: download CPU driver
For Windows ME and Windows 2000: download CPU driver
Change Power Options
Click on Start->Settings->Control Panel

Check if Cool’n'Quiet is enabled
